Intro Divers

Yes, there are times that we get lucky and see these amazing Monk Seals in the shallow water of our introductory dive sites, but we are more likely to see our Hawaiian Honu (Giant Sea Turtle), Tako (octopus), White Tip Sharks (no worries, they are safe) and perhaps an eel or two (we will just leave those guys alone)! And GUESS what? YOU can experience this with NO PRIOR experience or gear! We will supply ALL you need! YOU just need to be able to answer NO to all of the questions on this questionnaire (or have written medical clearance) and supply us with your height, weight and shoe size. We will take care of the rest! BOOK YOUR 2 TANK BOAT DIVE HERE!

Description

Scuba diving is safe, fun and easy! Statistically scuba diving is safer than golfing and bowling. You don’t even have to know how to swim. I would not recommend scuba diving to a “nonswimmer” but if you really want to try it and are comfortable in the water it is possible. The number one rule is continuously breath and never hold your breath. It’s all good as long as you’re making lots of bubbles!

LOOK FOR OUR WHITE VAN WITH THE RED STRIP AT KEWALO BASIN LOCATED AT 1125 ALA MOANA BOULEVARD. WE WILL BE AT PIER A SLIP A-1. OUR BOAT IS THE KAHALA KAI. TELL YOUR UBER OR LYFT DRIVER TO TAKE YOU TO KEWALO BASIN OR CALL US AT 808-291-0212 IF YOU NEED PERSONAL DIRECTIONS. MEET US AT THE BOAT AT 7:15 AM! The reason we ask for your height, weight and shoe size is so we can have all the right size equipment for you. We will go to go over everything you have to know to “come back alive” on the boat  It’s easy and fun. You will learn four basic skills. We will demonstrate the skills on the boat and then we will do the skills in shallow water. I always say “Use your tools and make your life easy”.

Then we are off to do our dive. We will swim with “Honu”, the Green Hawaiian Sea Turtles, and over 30 species of fish indigenous to Hawaii. You may have heard of the little fish with the big name. The Humuhumunukunukuapuapua’a. If we are lucky we can play with a “Tako” or Octopus. We shoot lots of pictures and you will get to check them out after the dive. If you like the photos a CD is available for $30.00.

You won’t be a certified diver at the end of the day but you will find out how easy scuba diving is and wonder why you waited so long to give it a try. If you love snorkeling you are really going to love scuba diving. Now you are ready to take the next step. You can do a PADI Open Water Certification course in as little as three days. Over 70% of the world is underwater. You can get a license to go there!

Frequently Asked Questions—Introductory Level:

How old do you have to be to scuba dive on Oahu?

The minimum age is 10 years old, with a depth limit of 40 feet for introductory divers.

Do you have any dive trips that we could do that are not too deep. I see that the intro dives are for folks who have never dived before, but do you have something that would be a little more advanced for newly certified divers?

The afternoon dives are not just for intro divers. Certified divers do the two shallow dives and get some long bottom times. Not everyone wants to go deep. If you are into photography these dives give you more time to shoot pictures or videos.

How large is a group (how many people for each instructor)?

My maximum group size is four. We are sharing the boat with other groups, but we diving with our own group.

How far is the diving site from the shore?

The introductory dive sites are about a half mile from shore and depths are 25 to 40 feet.

How long will we stay under the water for each dive?

Each introductory dive is 30 to 45 minutes depending on how fast divers breath. We all have a guage that tells us how much air we have in our tanks.

Is it a one dive or two dive?

It’s a two tank two location boat dive.

How do we find you?

LOOK FOR OUR WHITE VAN WITH THE RED STRIP AT KEWALO BASIN LOCATED AT 1125 ALA MOANA BOULEVARD. WE WILL BE AT PIER A SLIP A-1. OUR BOAT IS THE KAHALA KAI. TELL YOUR UBER OR LYFT DRIVER TO TAKE YOU TO KEWALO BASIN OR CALL US AT 808-291-0212 IF YOU NEED PERSONAL DIRECTIONS.
